Abbotsinch Airport is now known as Glasgow Airport, and it serves as Scotland's primary international airport as well as a key transportation center. Paisley, which is located in Renfrewshire, is 8.6 nautical miles (15.9 kilometers) away from the central business district of Glasgow. In 2019, the airport served 8.84 million passengers, which is 8.4 percent less than the number of passengers it served in 2018. This places it in second place in Scotland, behind Edinburgh Airport, and tenth place in the United Kingdom overall.
Both the owner and operator of the airport are AGS Airports, which is also the owner and operator of the airports in Aberdeen and Southampton. This airport was once owned by Heathrow Airport Holdings, who also oversaw its operations (formerly known as BAA). British Airways, easyJet, and Loganair are three of the most significant airlines that have bases at this airport. Jet2.com and TUI Airways are two other well-known airlines that rely on Glasgow as a hub for their operations.
