Aberdeen international airport
It is a significant international airport that serves the city of Aberdeen and is located in the Dyce neighborhood of Aberdeen, Scotland. The airport is approximately 5 nautical miles to the northwest of the city center of Aberdeen. In 2017, about 3.1 million passengers utilized the airport, representing a 4.6% increase over the previous year's total.
All regular and holiday charter flights depart from the airport's single main terminal. Bristow Helicopters, CHC Helicopters, NHV, and Babcock Mission Critical Services Offshore all use one of four heliports in the North Sea. In addition to the main passenger terminal, there is a smaller terminal located nearby that is reserved for oil industry charter flights to Sumburgh, Shetland.
The runway at Aberdeen International Airport is paved with grooves to help stabilize fixed-wing aircraft. There are a total of three helipads accessible.
There are 19 separate stands next to the main terminal. Other aprons near the airfield offer remote parking as well. Bristows and CHC-Scotia, two of the four offshore helicopter operators, are based on the western side of the airstrip, while NHV and Babcock are on the eastern side.
Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Express, Courtyard by Marriott, Leonardo Inn, Moxy Hotel, and Jurys Inn are just a few of the hotels located around the airport.
The Hallmark Hotel is not the only option in the area; the Hampton Inn, Marriott, and Premier Inn are all within easy driving distance.
Both Airbus/Eurocopter and Bristow Helicopters use helicopter flight simulators in terminal buildings at the airport for pilot training purposes. At Aberdeen Airport, Alexander Air also provides general aviation (GA) flying instruction.
